I'm sitting here about to throw up. Literally! I'm crying and shaking and devastated. I have allowed myself to forget that we are at War! Real WAR! Not some peace keeping mission that I have imagined but ugly ugly war. And the good ole U S of A is not necessarily the GOOD GUY!

I was 11 or 12 when we started the 1st Gulf War. I remember watching CNN with my momma and seeing the air strike. The night vision made all the missiles look like green balls of light. It was the first realization I had with our military. I began collecting Dessert Storm trading cards. Stormin' Norman was my hero. I wore camo tshirts proudly and became the most red blooded patriot there was. I was PROUD to be American. Our boys, our men, our women, they were protecting the helpless the innocent from a horrible and evil power. We were their saviors. What a crock! The only reason we care about the dessert over there is because we need that thick black gold they live on top of! The terrorists are just making it a little harder and more expensive for us to import our Black Liquid God! As we have shown, with our lack of interest in genocide that is happening all over the African continent, we will only "save" you if you have something we need. We spend somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 billion a month on the war and for roughly 2.5 billion we could give all of African a luxury called CLEAN WATER. But those people don't need us, and we certainly don't NEED them.

We the American people have become monsters! We are cursed because of our lack of love for first, our Father in Heaven and Second, our neighbor. We send men and women to defend a place where they believe the people are no more than swine. And that their lives are no more important that a flea. How have we let this happen? Because it doesn't really affect us does it? They are far away in a land that we have no desire to vacation in. To travel to. To love. They are Muslims and not people. They attacked us.... the whole Arab Nation did... they all deserve to die. Is this right? NO! NO! NO! Its so wrong that we all deserve to burn in Hell! We are no different than the horrible Taliban we fight (who we put in power the first time we tried to save the Afghan people)!

The terrorist who attacked us and shook our false foundation believe in something. Its awful and they do horrible things for their belief, but we are worse because we do horrible things because we are apathetic and fear something being too hard or taking to long or costing too much. We don't push our politicians to make changes to make us better stewards of our world and our neighbors. We don't have time, there are movies to watch, basketball games to attend, season tickets to pay for, soft leather hand bags that have to be carried, iPhones to update. We have disconnected ourselves from ANYTHING that doesn't make us feel better about ourselves. And this is why we have invaded countries and we allow our men and women to use elderly and children for target practice and killing as a stress reliever. Yes this is a soap box, yes I am ranting because I have NEVER hated myself as much as I do in the moment and i need to spew this bile in my gut.

Is this why Jesus sacrificed himself and saved us? Is this why we founded a country on God? That is not the God I serve. No wonder we are heading to Armageddon. We are worse than the people God destroyed in the flood... we are lucky Jehovah made a promise to Noah not to smite the whole planet,l or we would be swimming with the fishes in the oil polluted waters!

I accidentally came upon the story linked below, the reason for my middle of the night fury! To be honest I have made it a careful habit to stay away from the news because it upsets my little happy place, my cotton candy world. This is a horrible story straight out of the most psychotic thriller you could ever imagine. Make yourself read it. Make yourself see just what we are letting our military do. Why is there no answer for the sins of our people. We excuse a soldier because of what they go through and it is horrendous. I am thankful to men and women who go into a career that most certainly will at best lead to them witnessing the horrors of war that I can only imagine, for my freedom, but I think we have gotten a little lacks in what is forgivable. Our government needs a collective slap across the face. Be careful all ye Romans!

For those of you who are still reading this post, this article is the worst thing I have read. I even made myself look at the images that undoubtedly will haunt me forever. I don't know what is to be done I don't know where to start. Take the time to look into the eyes of the Children in the photos. These are the children that these men are suppose to be protecting, liberating. Read of the joking and planning to throw candy in front of tanks so they could run these CHILDREN over!!!!!! We may not believe as they do or share any similarities of life with them, but don't forget that they are innocent, and they are human! In the article it is stated frequently that the men in the platoon and in many platoons don't like the people and see them as savages. So that is why they can carry around body parts as trophies after killing a 15 year old farmer in his field.

My sister is 15 and she is a child, I would kill someone if I was told that she was shot 40 times by 2 officers of a military that was "saving me" and then the people who killed her took pictures next to her body holding her head up like she was a prize animal they had just hunted. IF that doesn't make you furious God have mercy on your soul.

I know that this will make people I know and love mad. I know where I live and what we "BELIEVE IN"! I have family who might even disown me for this but I don't care! I refuse to be a part of this silently! I refuse to make excuses for our country sending men and women to become animals who think nothing of killing other humans. I refuse to be quiet why our leaders shove all the ugly under the rug.... the rug is peaking like Mount Everest and its getting a little hard to ignore!

My husband has desperately desired for us to go off grid and only use renewable/clean resources. He has tried get us to a place where we do not fund terrorism by fueling our lives. I have not been whole-heartedly supportive because I want a nice car that isn't too old and had key-less entry... I want the luxury of not having to turn a freaking key!!!! I AM that animal! That changes now! Our government and "We the People" have crushed all hope of renewable energy until it became politically correct and stylish recently. There is nothing available that is modern and reliable without spending at least $60K.... not for at least 2 more years anyhow! We are years behind the smarter less spoilt Europeans! We are killing everything that we can with our sloth-like tendencies. The Gulf, the Oceans, the Innocent People. We are FAT! We are LAZY! We are TOO BUSY! We are A JOKE to the rest of the WORLD! We are a DISAPPOINTMENT to our FATHER! We NEED TO WAKE UP!!!

Please read the article. Please let yourself become enraged! Please do-not ignore this because it is uncomfortable! I support the men and women who serve in our military I just think that they should be held to a reasonable standard of not murdering people for sport. I would never make such a generalization as to suggest that all or even a majority of our service men and women would consider doing anything like this. I know this is the the exception and not the rule. But even a few instances such as these are unimaginable and unforgettable.

Picture if you will a Conservationist who is responsible for protecting the Forrest Kangaroo. This protector is suppose to help repopulate the Earth with this adorable creature so that is will come off the endangered list. For the sake of this story there are only 15 of these amazing creatures left in the entire world. Because the conservationist is sick of living in in the heat and the sand while feeding them, cleaning up after them, and taking care of them; and to be honestly he thinks they are nasty little creatures (hes only there to do his job) he decides to hunt them as open game and then pose with each kill. As a trophy he makes key chains out of the baby Kangaroos paws and shows them to anyone who will look. Don't you think we would have his head for obliterating a whole species and making sport of it? I know I WOULD!!!!!!

Well there are such people...

They call themselves the Kill Team. A few of them will answer for what they have done... but not all! And this is not isolated! Do not be naive and think this is the first or last time this has or will happen. It is WAR! These are WAR CRIMES! If we allow this to happen we cannot be so quick to judge the people of Nazi Germany! We are just as idle...more so because we are aware!

That wasnt and apology but rather a disclaimer! This is Brit my amazing baby sister. Because Im a ditz and took the camera but no CF card to her awards ceremony I was able to shoot zilch of her and her friends at the school. I was really bummed because i am so extremely proud of her and wanted her to be the next in my people I love post, so I went to her house and we had an impromptu shoot in the garage/alley! Hey you work with what you have! We never get to do this and because anytime I have taken photos of her NOONE ever gets to see them I resolved to come home and work on them first thing! I thought she should get to see just how rockin' she is!

Its amazing because I never knew I could love like I love her. Shes 13 so sometimes we butt heads ( I assure you I am never at fault) but still I have an unconditional love for this little PUNK! Having her in my life has been the greatest joy. I thank god daily that he brought us this little angel from heaven. I have never met a person who didnt think she was special and thats because she absolutely is!

As you can see in her eyes she loves with her whole soul and being. As I edited these I was smiling to myself and pretty much almost a sappy babbling idgit! These images of her literally took my breath away. Her inner and outer beauty is captivating! She will be going into 8th grade next year and i am excited for her and hate it all in the same!

I love you B.B. and Daniel & I love you more than you can ever know. Stay the woman that you are always and keep that love for people that radiates from you. Momma would be so happy to see who you are today, you were and still are her angel always! I know that she is so proud of her baby!

A Dog's Life....

I have always heard that term... and from the looks of things around here I would give anything to have a dogs life!

I am behind... wayyyyyy behind! So if you feel like I'm taking forever at doing something for you, you are definantly NOT alone, I expect a lynch mob to be arriving soon!

I am trying now in the middle of stress and worry to focus on what makes me happy. The other night while at the Library (something Daniel & I have started to do together) I found a book of Dog portraits... all kinds of Dogs, and my wonderful darling Daniel encouraged me to get it so it would motivate me to get back to taking photos of those I love. There is not time for that. Not space on my hard drive for "personal" things, but for sanity sake I think i will make room somewhere. Who knows buy another hard drive, is 6 really too many?

No offense to my clients but that has been lacking in my life for 7 years now. The more photos I take of strangers the less I take of those love. Its a shame really especially because i deam photos so very important. If you entered my home there are tons of photos of clients and none of family. Hopefully that will soon begin to change. I have a beautiful family and I want to show them off.

So here you go... two of the most important beings in my life. There are hundreds of photos of clients that I would/should share, but i am choosing to be selfish and showing you my babies! They stink (like fritos) and are in desperate need of a bath but they are mine heart and soul!!!

And today at 2:30 I will take photos of my beautiful baby sister getting an award from her school with many other 7th graders. And just for once i will stop her and make her smile in her fabulous new outfit that we spent 3 hrs looking for, with her beautiful hair that I drove to her house at 6:45 this morning to fix. And I will cherish her georgus hazel eyes that will be smiling in embarassment with a hint of gold on the eye lids (make up was at 7:45am). And I will cherish those photos because she will only be 13 years 4 months 17 days old once! And soon those shiny braces that I have yet to take portraits will be off and only a memory. Yeah today is important forever!

And i will look back at the end of this day and sigh because under the stress, and the loss, and the worry, and the back log of work, and the 6ft pile of laundry, and the dirty bathrooms, and the bills, and the to do list, I have a great life with many who love me, and a husband who adores me and aside from that nothing else matters... HEY its a dog's life!

Hang in there...
sometimes life hands you lemons,

but then you can make lemonade.

Inside:

Of course, sometimes life pulls down you pants, runs a power sander across your naked butt, then pours lemon juice on your raw abrades buttocks.

In that case, a cool citrus drink wouldn't really help but, darn it... you've got to hang in there anyway!

Well I am sure once people see that I have posted head are gonna roll...hahaha i love the element of surprise!

I think Ill start this post off with a card I bought for someone who is very special in my life and it kinda sums up things for my life as well....

HAHA I have an odd sense of humor, but that pretty much sums up life right?

Most know that a lot has happened in my life that has changed me and my family. Some good some not so good but I think it all has been a lesson from our savior. And over the last 2 years I have taken a long look at me and who i am and who I want to be. For many years I have been a "photographer" with everything in me. When I meet friends of friends the introduction has always been this is my photographer friend Toni that I told you about. i havent minded infact I love when people tell others about me (I have no shame). But it has been my whole being and what has defined me. I am feeling a need for some change, I will no longer be a photographer for hire. It has been an amazing 7 years. I have met and worked with extraordinary people. I have learned my limits as well as what I am capable of. I have impressed and dissappointed myself and many others. And I have worked until my health, life & family have suffered! =As I turned 25 (for the 5th time) this year I thought about how i want the next 10 yrs to go. Less work more play...hahaha I'll admit it... I'm a slacker. I have a wonderful husband who for unknown reasons likes to spend time with me... and I think Im going to try and make him tired of me... ;p!

I have been so blessed that God allowed me to have success in doing something that I love. I also believe there is a season for all things and I think this season is ending.

What does this mean for my past/current clients? Absolutely nothing! All products that have or will be ordered will still be fufilled (I am keeping ties with my lab and album companies). The website will stay live for at least the next year. Galleries will be available for at least the next 6 months. I am even thinking of blogging all the great stuff I have never blogged once I am all caught up. Actually I think I will be better to my clients because I will no longer be overwhelmed with new sessions, weddings or events and will be able to get each of you the time and attention you have needed and deserved. If you have been waiting on me for something I will be contacting you very soon. I have been steadly working on all the orders/albums that are due.

There are some of you who I have discussed this with already who i expressed interest in my shooting for you and your expanding families and i would love to. I love the relationship that I have built with so many of you and would hate the thought of not watching your familes grow up. So feel free to call/email and it will just depend on where my life is at that season.

Thank you all so much for trusting me with your most precious memories and thank you more for the friendships that have followed. Thank you for your patience and I am sorry that patience was required of you.

Although a HUGE chapter of my life is closing I am so excited to write the next one. Please keep in touch and if you have any questions let me know. Thank you again for letting me into you lives, it has given me something to look forward to for my own.

Well if you havent met him yet you are missing out. There has even been talk of cloning him so others can have him too. I am talking about the man who lights my fire... my phenominal husband Daniel (the other half of the name)! Today is his 40th birthday and I just wanted to tell him publicly that I love him and dont know what i would do without him. I love ya babe! I am in awe of the fact that God gave you to me. Your smile and laugh are enough to keep me going always, and ya know what I know that you love me that much back! Hes the chocolate syrup on this very vanilla lady.

So far I would say he has had a great bday. There was a party last night with a few friends and a canoe.... more on that later I am sure. And today we are leaving for Taos to White Water Raft! We have wanted to for a while and decided there was no better time.

Happy Birthday Scoot Daddy... I love you big as the world ball! Now come home and take me rafting!

FUN! Thats all I have to say! The Bride is nutso, the groom is loony and the wedding party needs to be admited to the Rubber Ramada, other than that it was a blast..HA! Really though I laughed, I cried, I shot like a mad woman, and I felt ALIVE! There was never a dull moment and thats how I like it. Jennifer and Nathan were all about having fun. They never took them selves to serious. They made a conscience decision to make sure this was the best day of the lives and I know I loved it. The pics below say much more than a thousand words.... just look at the way he looks at her... and yes he carried her off the stage after the wedding... I know so romantic is makes ya sick. I love you guys and miss ya way off in Tennessee. I know these first few months of your marriage have been blessed and amazing, cant wait to see you guys when you come home! HUGS!

Julie loves Jake

Laughter~ As i looked back through these images from 3 months ago to finally blog, I remembered the laughter. Julie and Jake are not only in love they are in, what my 12 yrs old sister and her friends refer to as "like like"! They have a BLAST together! When i met Julie at the Harvest cafe in Midland I was in "like like" with her immediately. Her laughter is contagious and makes you all happy inside. She never holds back and and always smiles/laughs with her whole being. We hit it off instantly and she hired me to shoot their amazing wedding in Minnesota (more on that later). We also decided that Albuquerque(where they live) was perfect for some kiss hiney engagement photos...so off I flew! The moment Julie & Jake picked me up from the airport I knew that Jake and I would most definitely have fun! He's the perfect yin to Julie's yang. When she laughs he does too and not in that fake isnt she cute way but in the "shes freakin awesome and I "like like' her way"! We enjoyed relaxing with Fritzie (more of her later) the wackest cat ever and sitting in there fabulous back yard in the mountains outside of town. They were perfect host/hostesses (umm thanks again guys for EVERYTHING..haha). Being the location junky that I am I was a little over whlemed by all my sick options. But with them in tow we took care of business. I was so blessed to get to spend the weekend with them and some of their uh hmmm interesting friends. It made the wedding even more special because I wasnt just there as a photographer I felt like their friend! Now the poor darlings are cruising and touring Prague for a couple of weeks... its a hard knock life for them! Enjoy the images and look for the wedding in the next couple of days. Congrats you guys... you totally ROCK!

Yeah ok well Nathan's not SOOOO bad hisself... I guess...hahaha! But come on look at her... she's hot! I had the extreme pleasure of shooting Jennifer's Bridal back in April. I have know this chica since she was in elementary school and working with her was dear to me heart. Not only is she stunning... she is the most caring, funny, outrageous person you will ever meet (and she shares my love for shoes) Her faith is God is her number one priority and she makes sure that everyone around her knows it. The only problem I see is that she takes herself WAY too seriously as you will see below ;) When she showed me the photos of her dress my heart skipped! I fell in love with this gown and I dont think it would fit any more perfect on anyone else. Jennifer you are so very wonderful and watching you is a blessing to me. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of so much!

I was reading blogs that I subscribe to while waiting on images to load and found this post on flowerdust.net. I encourage everyone to read the post and help the children. I know that the economy is suffering and that the cost of living has risen, but we have enough. My bathroom scales tell me all the time that I have MORE than enough. These children and thier famlies do not. And the crunch is affecting those is the greatest need the most. I know that I can give up a pedicure once a month or a new purse. It may not be comfortable and Daniel might complain when he gets stabbed by toe nails in the middle of the night, but it certainly the LEAST I can do. We do not live in a perfect country... far from it I am afraid. But we are blessed. Blessed with a government that even with its flaws will try to help to feed them who can not feed themselves. Most people in these other countries will never be helped. The greatest comandment is to love one another as God loves us! How can we say we love those who we will not help.

Well most people said it wouldnt happen, some people said it couldnt happen, and I'm sure some people thought it SHOULDNT happen BUT I DID IT.... I blogged.... FINALLY! What can i say I just dont have the LOVE for it that so many others do. I do have to say thanks to those who for whatever reason have come back to see if maybe just maybe there was something new. I was very shocked to see just how many of you there are on my statcounter.... again muchos gracias!!!

Ok so here it is... Casey & Jason! I do regret not blogging this sooner just to share such a postively superb event! Both families rocked. At every wedding there is the talk of two families coming together as one, but these families really meant it! Its not every reception that you get to see the fathers have their "first dance" together! It was fabulous to watch people who obviously loved their own child welcome in the one that child loves as their own. I already knew I loved the Cooks but it was a double treat when i met the Dominquez family. Weddings like this make me step back and thank God that watching and capturing their laughter, tears & abundant joy is my JOB! Congrats to both families... you guys sure know how to party!

Jessica came to work with us the first part of the session (when Courtney decided to skip out on my and study in Italy for the summer) and has been a GOD SEND. A few of the slamming photos above were snapped by her! You think Im behind now just imagine if she wasnt there to kick me in the hiney everyday. Thanks Jessica for all you do... you have saved my life these last few months... cant wait for you to get me in line!!!!

Well if you arnt from West Texas i doubt you will understand...but for the rest of us it sure has been a b-utiful month full of 40 mile winds and dusty BROWN skys. Last week was no exception. I drove to Midland to shoot Sam's senior session and fought to stay on the road the whole way...gotta love it. One thing I do love is that when the weather isnt perfect then I have to work a little hard and get way more creative... that I DO LOVE! All the way to Midland my head was swarming with where we would go and what we could do... it was great! Then I show up and Sam's house is a photographers dream. She lives in a house which has been in her family for years! The decor inside is fantastic and different from everything you see these days! Made my job EASY.

And Sam herself... marvelous. Not only is she easy on the eyes she has a great head on her shoulders... rooted in GOD!

I sure am blessed with my clients... you guys leave me in AWE!

Thanks Sam for braving the wind, the dirt and the really cool laundry mat with me! I would do it again in an instant!

Well I am telling you... I have had so many great people lately they are making it
very hard for me to choose pics for the BLOG. Poor ME! Anywho this is Casey & Jason, they will be tying the knot next weekend and I am VERY excited (oh and I guess they probably are too). They followed me all the way to the metro of Tahoka ( I was needing a change of scenery) for their E-Session. And although I found out that Jason will never be able to teach their children how to do a proper cart wheel I know they are great together and always will be! And to the two of you thanks for trusting that I might know what Im doing even when I drive like a lunatic and find a great field by accident!

Marla's blog today reminded me it has been a LOOOONNNGGG time since I posted anything scooter...and since I found this gem the other day thought I would share.

Here are most (not all) of the Too Flat Scooter club fellas. Yes I said scooter club. If you are thinking about laughing bc your HOG is a REAL bike then you'll never understand. To quote my cousin "I am filled with uncontrolable joy" everytime I ride! We have a blast when we get together and even hold a pretty mean slow race! The TFSC is a great, brave, valiant group of peeps. There is even talk of taking on the Marsha Sharp over pass....trust me on a scooter thats a HUGE deal!!!!

I haven't met very many gals as talented as Allison...and ummm well B-UTIFUL! Allison is a senior at Midland Christian who is on her way to many things. She has a love and passion for fashion...oh look I'm a poet and I didn't know it!!!! She has designed her last two formal dresses and they are amazing! One day I'll be photographing famous models in Allison designs! On top of style she's also a swanky tennis player...even in the dark when she can't see the ball....hahaha! She let me drag her all over Midland and the sun went down before I was done but we had a blast until then anyway! I did sang a few images of her and cutie sis too...but those will be another post soon! Thanks Allison for trusting me and going where ever I wanted! Man the Seniors this year are rockin' my world. I have never really sought out that end of photography but this year there has been a lot of interest and I am so glad to have the oppurtunity! When Taryn's sister talked to me about her senior pics I was uber excited! The ideas started flowing. And although we didnt get to use all of my ides (we didnt have 12 hrs to shoot) I had a great time. Brailie (sp?) her sweet baby girl is great. A ton of energy kept us from get her sitting smiling at the camera very often but having alot of energy myself I appreciate her zest for life... I like that the photos we did get show her for who she is! And Taryn, with eyes that can look right through you, is stunning! I am loving it! Thanks guys for coming all the way down to Lubbock (eve if it was more for George than me!!!!) Ya know what .... SENIORS ARE FUN!!!!!!!!

I am not really going to say much about these two...not because they are bumps on logs but rather because their photos don't need me to, they say it all! I have been looking at the processes of "branding" yourself and I have been trying Because Life is Fun (because it is)... and then I am looking back through the images to blog...and there it is... the epitome of FUN... LOVE. I am going to have so much real FUN with these guys in May. It was so great to have so many throw your head back and laugh laughs we no prompting or guidance from me... thats just not me. Picture a big announcer like at one of the huge sporting events or better yet theatrical production (OK YES I KNOW THEY DONT ANNOUNCE LIKE THAT AT THE THEATER)... that we West Texans know all too well!

Well incase you are not sure this is Keegan... I know coolest name ever, thats what I said! Keegan's mom is MAKING him take senior pics so because she MADE him he decided that I was cool enough to do the job! WHOO HOOO I'm in like Flin! I dont get the opportunity to shoot many guy seniors and its such a shame for me since ALL my friends in high school were dudes! I know you feel my pain...anywho I think it is safe to say that we had a BLAST! IF the freak storm wouldn't have blown in I would have drug him around town for hours (well alot more hours than I already did)!!!! Dont get me wrong though I was pumped to see the sky that came with the freak storm!

Well DUDE I truly enjoyed laughing at you... I mean with you...and you are right you are just awesome enough to get to hang out with such a rocking chick like me!!!!!

That's right folks Courtney is running off to Italy for the summer and leaving me all alone...boohooo! But that leaves a wonderful oppurtunity for some other fine soul! I am looking to hire for the position of a paid Internship. Basically you will assist me with office details as well as second shoot portrait sessions and weddings, and I will allow you to tap into my infinte wisdom of all things photography...hahahaha!. The hours are extremely flexible and not at all demanding, however they are also not dependable. There will be some weeks that i need help everyday and some weeks where I only need you for a couple of hours.

Who should apply?????

Fun loving, easy going, photography student (preferred), flexible (hours not physically), low key (high maintenance drama queens/kings need not apply), someone who does not need to depend on the job for their sole income, ambitious, FUN FUN FUN, basic computer skills with a touch of Photoshop fimilarity

You do not have to be a photography genius or photoshop geru... I will teach you want I need you to know. I do insist that you know what a aperature and shutter speed is!

The position will be on trial basis but if things are good and we work well together this will become a permenant postition (even after Courtney returns). I have big things planned for the coming year and will need at least 2 employees to make it all happen!

Well we are heading to te metro of San Angelo for the week! I love this place.... we would move there if we could... family ya know how that goes..haha! The first time Daniel and I went was the weekend that he gave me my ring! The best weekend ever! Since then we never turn down a chance to go back...even if it is a working trip! Some of you know her because of her passion and zest for photography and life. Some of you know her for her bubbley personality. i know her for late night (like 4 am ) chats online while we are both trying to get our albums done and weddings edited, strung out on coffee, diet coke & rockstar. Running through Vegas in the rain on 4 hrs sleep over the span of 4 days, slamming peoples fingers in car doors and almost dying hanging out of rental cars! She is my friend... Kristin... and the voice in the back of my head! I met Kristin about 9 yrs ago when i worked at Armadillo camera! She cracked me up and sometimes drove me crazy but none the less kept me on my toes. She always was thirsty to know about the latest photographic developments. And when digital became professional she was one of the first believers to think it was a good idea...(hence the drive me crazy part). She is an amazing photographer, entrepranuer, friend and most important mother. As i stress out about how I will get everythign done I think about how she will get everything done. Soccer, basket ball, soft ball, science projects, riding lessons, engagement sessions, breakfast, supper, video store, wedding, bridal, be there for her girls for late night talks and wierd stamp scavenger hunts, on and on... and I am amazed. She is always there for WHOMEVER needs her. As a mentor she has helps tons of photographers spread their wings (including this little monarch)... she is our Yoda! I dont think any of us have taken the time to thank her.... so thank you! Thank you for nagging me until I saw that I needed to make the leap to digital. Thank you for being the photography wikipedia. Thank you for holding the bar high for the rest of us to jump over. Thank you for your prayers and support through all the moments of defeat. Thank you of giving of yourself when there is nothing else to give! And thank you for showing me that Gods strength is enough to move mountains. I love you and thank god that you have been in my life pushing me and keeping me sane! I dont know what I would have done without someone to cry and rant to who really does understand what I go through... i'm sorry i didnt say this sooner!!!! You are a beautiful friend and all the chicks that click are lucky and greatful to have you!

YEA! I feel super special for shooting this wedding! Not only were they a great couple to work with I consider them dear friends! I always love shooting at my home church... it just feels right! And not only do I love them bc they are friends... they rocked! They were both so HAPPY the whole time! I honestly could not keep Steven from getting in his tux...he was ready! i think he even said that it was really comfortable.... thats a first! HAHA! They were both so excited about seeing eachother that nothing else mattered... not even being in a tux and hour longer than you needed to! And Amy was the sweetest bride...even when she wasnt sure how she felt about something going on she woudl just ask in a sweet sing-songie voice something like " Are you going to fix your hair or leave it all crazy like that....?" That one was directed at me!!!! HAHAHAHAHA! i dont blame her it was diffenatly something!

I love you guys and Daniel and I both feel so honored to have been there with you for all the FUN! God bless you and make you always look at eachother the way you do now!

Ok first I know there are too many photos for a blog ettiquette(sp?) and I dont care! I loved this wedding and couldnt stop picking photos I wanted for the blog. There were too many wonderful sincere images. Blame it on Courtney...she's too good and shoots too many photos...hahaha!

But seriously we had too much fun this whole weekend. I always love weddings and have a blast with every group that I get the previlege of working with, but these guys were something special. Amanda with her stunning-heart-stopping smile and Nathan tall and quiet with eyes only for her! And he's a navy man serving our wonderful country... it doesn't get better than that!!! Not only were Amanda & Nathan great they were surrounded by the best family and friends ever. Their familes were just as excited about this wedding as the couple...it was like they wanted to marry her off...(ha only kidding there were enough tears to tell us different). They even had a groomsman willing to shave is full-man-chew just for them. And shave he did... thanks Landon!!!! It was a beautiful day full of smiles and perfect (ok a tad windy) weather. As I sit back and watch family & friends celebrate the gift of marriage I have to realize how blessed I am to have this job. I love to watch and see how good the lord is in all his promises. Congratulations you guys. I hope Jamiaica was crazy fun and that the west Texas gal is settling in Cali just fine. How could she not, shes finally back with her heart again!

Slowly but surely....

I could tell Friday night before the wedding that this would be a fun group. They were laughing and smiling the entire night. And just look at that dessert....YUM! Courtney and I tried to be good. But in the end the sweet tooth won over will power...it always goes that way for me! Oh well its only calories! It was a fabulous night followed a fantastic day! Amanda & the Gals

Last Friday I was blessed to get to attend Amanda's Bridal Brunch at the fabulous Ms. Gaye's house! And I had a marvelous time. I dont usual get the chance to tag along but as was the case with the whole weekend, the schedule was thought out so well that I had time to chill! Hanging out with these ladies was a wonderful emotional rollercoaster! HA! One minute we were all cracking up at Amanda's "creative" fashion choices for elementry class photos, and then someone would get sentimental and we would all be bawling. Yes I said we! (Although it is a occupational hazzard not to be able to see clearly thorough the camera because of tears sometimes it happens... thank the lord for autofocus!) I really enjoyed listening to all the stories new an old; and to get to hear Amanda & Nathan's love story; and just to witness the love and frendship that filled such a large room. I was honored to her what a blessing Amanda's life has been since the beginning, and to listen to her mom and Nathan's tell all the qualities in the both of them that means they will continue to be blessings (now together)for the rest of their lives. I knew they were special the moment I saw them together but it was amazing to hear what the people who love them the most in the world had to say. It was a wonderful start to a fantastic weekend. I promise those are coming too... I promise!!!!

Ok so I'm moving slower than I planned... there is alot to do when you take time off... whould'a thunk??? So anywho here are a few from Amanda & Nathan's engagement session. If you know me then you know I have a hard time being serious. Always goofing, performing, trying to make people laugh (normally at me not with me), but I didnt have to with these guys! They were so happy just to be together that I just sat back and watched. It was muy bueno! Well I finally did it...man thats how I start every post these days!
Here are a few of the images from Kari & Mike's fabulous wedding. The day after Thanksgiving Daniel and I headed to Odessa to hang out with the Halldorson/Shugart clan... and man do these guys know how to have a great time. There were many family and friends from all over, even North Dakota, and although they deny it I think they brought the snow with them. HA! We loved this group... it is so wonderful to shoot weddings where the families get along so marvelously that its hard to tell who belongs to whom. It was great to watch Kari & Mike look at eachother and then look around and watch their whole family watching them! I truelly had a blast with everyone all weekend! This was another one of the weekends when I look back and thank God that he has given me this job! I am always blessed with such amazing clients... I'm a greatful gal! Thanks you guys for being such a beautiful couple to work with! I am so excited for all that God has in store for you both!!!

Back in October I met up with the Callisons for some family pics and well you can see that again I might have gotten a bit carried away! These girls are a hoot! I loved to watch them interact and Miss Lilly is lining up to be quite a star...trust me! Oh wow! Well I know that I am crazy behind on blogging as well as everything else. So if you are expecting some photos to be posted I am working my behind off and soon I promise....BUT I had to post this...

Every once and a while I hear a song. A song that stops me in my tracks...and yes makes me bawl. Infact it is not rare for people to look at my very concerned while im driving and so I simply smile and drive on. And this is one of those songs. Air 1 is the best thing for me. A few years ago when I recommitted myself to the Lord my biggest strugle was music. I love to shake it and I just cant shake it to southern gospel (not slamming it I too love a great hymn....but you cant shake it). So anywho what was a music lovin girl suppose to do when she changes her life and has a music collection that would make a sailor blush...(maybe thats a little dramatic)! Well you get the drift! So one day as I'm driving in a silent car I began to pray about this. I was trying to change all aspects of my life but the gospel stations were not cutting it (PRE-Ipod) and I was going insane in all the silence and boy bands and top 40 were not my thing! God answered I promise you! My car battery died and I had to reset all the presets on my radio. When I hit scan the 1st station that popped up was air 1. The song was These Thousand Hills by Third Day. And I was hooked. Before I new it there were all these songs that I Had never heard that were fabulous and ministered to me while I shook my booty! My savior had come thourgh again.

Anyway thats what I expect now. I expect to here a song and be ministered to. I expect when I am having a bad day, week, month, year, decade... that God will use music to soothe my soul. Its how it has been from the beginning for me. I was 8 the first time I remember my mom helping me reherse to sing at church and I learned way before that all the words to Vistal Goodman and Dotti Rambo songs. And i thank God that even now, when my momma is not here for me to sing with, he sends me comfort through the radio.

This song (see below) speaks to me because I do believe. I believe that even when I feel desperatly alone he is there holding me. That when my day seems dark the son still shines. I believe that when people are gone they are not forgotten. I am Thankful for all that my life is. I am thankful even though I have endured much pain there had been so much more JOY. I am thankful that even if I feel like I fail at many things God has blessed me with love, family, cheer, & a job that is amazing (and one day I might actually get the hang of it) .

I have been consumed by so much of myself that being thankful was impossible. And then I realized just what my father has done for me and it was hard to wallow in self pity anymore. Yes my heart has been crushed but my God had been there. He has never forsaken me. And being tried I want to be found true. So that I am burned and purified in grace and righteousness. I believe I am loved by my God and really what else matters?

And just because this is a photoblog a picture of me and one of the people I am the most thankful for. My sister! She is an amazing person and I thank God I have her. She may be only 11 and 7/8 but she is a huge support to me. I love you Booger and I thank God he made us sisters!

This weekend after a wonderful Thanksgiving Daniel and I traveled to Odessa to shoot Kari & Mikes weddding in the snow!!!! It was too much fun! A wee bit cold but still too fun! the FABULOUS Courtney... APLAUSE APLAUSE APLAUSE! Well if you haven't had the wonderful luxery of meeting Courtney its a dang shame! This is a LONG over do introduction to one of the 2 people who keep me semi sane (Daniel ofcourse is the other). We met a few years ago at her sister's wallet shoot and then wedding! She is hilarious and keeps everyone around her laughing. She has been working with me for a year and I have to say that with out her I would have closed up shop long ago! I am surrounded by photographers who have had awful luck with assitants and I think they hate me when I tell them how great she is! The only thing that I worry about when she shoots with me is that we are going to get kicked out of a wedding for having too much fun! One of my fav things to do to her is just snap the camera in her face when she talking. I have managed to capture some "flattering" images in the processand thought is would be an injustice to the public not to share them. I feel like my abilty is a true talent because shes a HOTTIE and I still was able to get some "interesting" pics! Thanks Courtney for always making me laugh... even when I slam hard drives on the floor! Your faith in our Lord is an inspiration to me and I thank God daily that you are in my life!

Goodbye sweet Patience

How do you say goodbye to someone who has meant so much? You rammble on and on!

Tuesday October 16th our beautiful babygirl left us for greener pastures. We are very sad to see her go but we know that she is running with Permagard around heaven on new legs. Having the time of her life!!!

More than 12 years ago Daniel began the search for the "perfect" dog and he found her. Patience McGirck as he so lovingly called her. After reading up about a number of breeds and then finding out about Greyhounds the idea of rescuing a dog in desperate need of love sounded wonderful to him. After 6 months of filing paperwork and a home visit he finally was blessed with the presence of the mangy looking 9 month old. She was scared out of her wits... and so was he. As they sat on the front porch together she walked up to him and put her head to his chest and a 12 year love story was born.

I met Patience and Permagard 5 and 1/2 years ago when Daniel and I began dating. I had never seen a Greyhound in person and thought that they look a bit funny. I wasn't use to the arrow dynamic build made for running. It didnt take long for me to fall madly in love with all three of them (Daniel and the babies). I think it took Patience just a little longer to decide she loved me. Ya see he was HERS... hahaha! The first time I ever took her and Perm to the vet alone the receptionist and I talked about how much she adored Daniel. The woman said "ya know there are lots of people who walk in here proud of their dogs ready to show them off, but Patience is the only dog I have ever seen who walks in here showing her human off. Its like she thinks, look at Him, aint he great." And she was right. i have never watched a dog and human love the way these two loved. When he walked into the room you could see it in her eyes.

A couple of years ago heartache taught me to love her the same way Daniel did. When we lost Permagard she and I mourned together. She understood feelings and was very intuned to what was happening. As we would lay together on her pillow she would let me cry into her neck and never got annoyed with me. She knew that I was hurting and she was hurting as well. From then on she was my baby and I was her mommy.

Patience had the strongest determination. Even though her legs were stiff from Arthritis she would run after the boys and let them have it. She had to let them know who was boss every once and a while. She knew anything they could do she could do better. Never for a minute did she release the title "Queen of everything".
She was so Patient when I decided that we should foster Greys. She let them know she was boss, but she also sheltered, loved and protected each one of them. She put up with her rambucious brothers and having to share the pillows and only because slightly iriatated about it. She has been the reason for many greyhounds finding forever homes. Because of her many more greys will call this house home. There had never been a more perfect girl. Heaven is lucky to have her.

OK I normally am not a TAG type gal. But the wonderful Marla Barnard tagged me and she tagged me about my fav subject... my totally AWESOME hubby!!!!! So enjoy all the fabulous details that I know you all are dying to know!

1. Who is your man? Daniel Bruce Spray (A.K.A Scoot Daddy...HA! He's gonna kill me!)

2. How long have you been together? 5.5 years!!!!! Married 4 yrs October 11th!

3. How long dated? 1 year 7 months

4. How old is your man? 39

5. Who eats more? HAHA we will say him... and he better back me up on that!!!! ;)

6. Who said "I love you" first? He did. It took me a little longer to admit it but I loved him very early on.

7. Who is taller? He is @ 5'11" and 7/8

8. Who sings better? Depends what is being sung... if its Bob Dylan HIM or Natural Woman ...still him!!!!

9. Who is smarter? Daniel... he's like a freakin wikipedia...SERIOUSLY!

10. Whose temper is worse? HMMMM... mine! He's good at remaining calm... MOST of the time.

11. Who does the laundry? ME... well HIM... OK neither!!! HAHA!

12. Who takes out the garbage? He does. He has ALWAYS been great about it. I have never had to ask him to do it!!!! My hero!

13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? hmmm which side is the right. if You are standing at the foot of the bed I sleep on the right!

14. Who pays the bills? (God) Me...

15. Who is better with the computer? Daniel knows more of the technical stuff like IP addresses and configurations, but I think I know my way around them a tad better because I am trapped in front of one ALL DAY!

16. Who mows the lawn? Daniel, I am a self proclaimed wimp... I hate the heat!

17. Who cooks dinner? Rosa's!!!!

18. Who drives when you are together? He does. I actually drove for the first time from on a roadtrip from Sweetwater to Dallas the other day bc he was zonked... most of the time I sleep!

19. Who pays when you go out? One of us! It doesn't matter... I always say I'll get this one but then I can't find my debit card... he claims I do it on purpose, but I would NEVER do that...heeheee!

20. Who is most stubborn? OK I know Daniel would say I am...but there is NO way! We both are mules but he is a tad more stubborn.

21. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Daniel but I think I am pretty good about it too. Actually what is sick is Daniel is NEVER wrong. I married the one man who doesnt "think" hes right all the time... he is!

22. Whose parents do you see the most? Mine. My mother in law is 2 hrs away and my dad lives here!

23. Who kissed who first? Daniel kissed me first. On the forehead and my heart skipped... literally! a few minutes later we planted a doosie of one on eachother!

24. Who asked who out? HA! Daniel.... funny story... you should ask me sometime I LOVE to tell it! Involves a Pickle!

25. Who proposed? He did and big surprise I was a balling idiot. Then he asked me to wait to tell anyone until after my brother's wedding so as not to still their thunder which was 2 weeks away... YEAH RIGHT! I lasted until the next morning!

26. Who is more sensitive? I show it more and am too tender hearted, but Daniel is very sensitive to other people's needs. Good uses his mild manor to comfort people who are hurting, it is one of the things I admire most about him.

27. Who has more friends? DANIEL!

28. Who has more siblings? I do! 2 to 1

29. Who wears the pants in the family? Daniel does but he never bullies me. We make decisions together and he always considers me before he makes a decision. But God has given him wisdom that I do not possess so most the time he has the better course of action.

Miss Kenley emailed me this week to order some of her bridals. As I was going through them I realized I had never blogged this beautiful session. We got together last November for her session. The poor thing was going to Cabo to get married and wanted some portraits to take with her. I had so much fun with Kenley and her mom Shanna. They let me take them whereever I wanted and her mom kept saying "oh Im gonna want to order that one".... music to a photogs ears...hahahaha. I call Kenley my "look away" bride because her away look was so stunning and I kept saying "OK look away"... And just in case you are wondering they had a MARVELOUS time in CABO. (sidenote: just incase you were unsure, if you are planning a wedding to Cabo... or any other tropical climate for that matter....do nto hesitate to call. I am ALL about it!)

I fell in love with these two the moment I said "look at eachother and be serious" and they cracked up laughing!!! They are my perfect couple, madly in love, georgeous, up for anything & 200% GOOFY!!! Amanda & Tommy are getting married in October and so Daniel took me to the big "D" to shoot their engagement. It was so wonderful (and a wee bit scary) being somewhere new and excited and with such a great couple. They grew up in the same town and same school out here in West Texas but didn't start dating until they both found their way to Dallas... funny how when your suppose to be together it doesnt matter how big the City is it will happen. I am truely looking forward to this wedding, I have been forwarned about the wedding party, and I think I am up for it!!! HA! We took off all over Dallas and just shot until my hand and their cheeks hurt! I have some fun photos of Tommy all alone and ladies if he doesnt pay me the blackmail mulah soon I'll post them as well...hahahahaha! Thanks guys for be so fan-freaking-tastic!!!!

Well as PROMISED... a day or two late! AUGH! This time it took me longer because I just couldnt decide!!!! I can't take all the credit, even if I want to, a few of the rockin photos below were taken by my lovely assistant...Daniel! I narrowed it down to 30 favs...yeah I know bit much for a blog post but who cares its my blog and this was a fantastic wedding, complete with perfect weather, laughter, red headed gangstas, great food, better company and KARAOKE!!! Just look at the smiles on their faces they know how to celebrate. We even were serenaded with Patricks fabulous rendition of Sweet Home Amarillo... And then the perfect ending to the shin dig was a silly string battle...of which I was hit while being UNARMED!!!! I'll not be caught with my guard down next time. Congratulations you two, I hope y'all had a wonderful time heading north, where ever the road took ya!

Kamron & Patrick were married last night in a fun loving laid back fashion! It was so much fun just to be with their friends and family! I have wanted to show her bridal ever since we shot them so heres my chance! I drove to Amarillo for Kamron's bridal session only to be greeting with a horrible rain storm.... i was estatic! I was pushed out of my box and HAD to be creative. i couldnt have asked for a better bride...she trusted me ... who'd a thought...hahaha! We had a blast and she is such a beautiful person inside and out! Ofcourse we would not have been able to do it without our compadres Michele & Callie (love ya girlies). It was a fabulous time! Well I know that many have been wondering what the heck is up with me so I'm gonna tell ya. I really have never wanted to use the blog for all my personal drama but I think that my clients (and friends) deserve to know everything that is affecting there photographer and therefore their photography. So here we go.... this has hands down been the hardest year and 1/2 of my life. God has proven faithful and true to his word. He has never left me nor forsaken me but I do feel like I have been tried and tested. In the last year and half we have lost Daniel's step-dad, a couple of dogs, my uncle, Daniel's grandmother, my Momma & today my Aunt & My great-grandmother (which BTW I will be flying to Houston tomorrow and will not be back until Sunday evening... call or email if you need me... I will be available)not to mention numerous friends & co-workes. My mother-in-law battled cancer and won, and the biggest blow was my momma and bestfriend being very very sick for the last year until God healed her completely by giving her a new body. Most recently my mother-in-law and then my brother-in-law both had to have sugery on their legs the same day in 2 different hospitals. It hasnt been easy but we are still here. I know that many of you have waited too patiently for me to deliver but I hope you understand that I have had to put my family in front of my business. That has been the most difficult part of it all. I have felt like I have failed so many people so many times. I do apologize for this and I have been trying desperately to change it all. I am back to photography 100% and I am very excited about so many things that are in the works. I guess I just wanted everyone to know that I have not been trying to be a flake or unreliable. God has taught me so much about myself and for that I will praise him continuely. I know this sounds like a very negative blog but I hope you understand that it is quite the opposite. Through all that we have faced, my family has been made stronger, my husband has proven time and time again that he is the most amazing gift that God has ever given me, and I have learned to cling to my faith for dear life. The most amazing thing is the realization that other people have just as much going on in their lives as I do. If you think about the world around us and all that is happening it is quite overwhelming. Thank God that we are not the ones who has the world in our hands. I look back at all that has happened and all that I thought would be too much to deal with and I see that I was wrong. There has been alot but I know that I am blessed. Jer 29:10-12 is the verse that i always will go back to "11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." I can honestly say that I have searched for him with all my heart, and he was true to the word and he is there. I am not sure why I felt lead to blog all of this. It may just be for my sake, but if you need prayer or just someone to talk to, please please let me know!
